More about Coral Reef video

Coral Reef Tank was shot in April 2014 at an aquarium in Thailand. This part of the world is famous for it's exotic sea life. I wasn't disappointed when I realised what excellent corals and fish were waiting for my camera.

The camera is focused in on the Yellow Tang, which is a truly beautiful fish. I altered the aperture on the camera which means less focus on the fish and corals at the back, giving the illusion of greater depth to the tank. By adding some extra sharpness in post production we were able to keep the other details very clear too. I like the fact that this tank isn't overcrowded with fish, it allows one to really appreciate the living corals, which have obviously been growing for quite some time.

The location of the aquarium is within a zoo. The zoo was busy with kids on school trips but I managed to hoard this fish tank for around 13 minutes. The footage does loop on the full 20 minute video after around 13 minutes but it isn't too noticeable as we used a crossfade to blend the clips.

Being located in a busy aquarium, the sound wasn't suitable to be used. Instead we have dubbed over a far more relaxing audio track with the gentle sound of bubbles underwater. It fits the scene rather well and helps make this a very relaxing piece of footage.
