FAQ

What exactly does Uscenes sell?

All of our products are digital downloads. They each include the option of a 20 minute MP4 video file in 4K Ultra HD or 1080p Full HD. We also provide screensavers for Apple Mac and Microsoft Windows computers, which may also have both resolutions. All 4K videos are mastered in 5.1 surround sound.

The video files are intended to be used on large TVs and the screensavers on computers and laptops. Simply copy the videos onto a USB drive and plug into your TV to view them. You can also play the videos on your computers and select the repeat or loop option on your media player for continuous play.

You can download free sample clips to make sure that your devices can play our files by clicking here.

The screensavers are 3 minutes long, they play and continuously loop by themselves until you touch your computer, just like any other screensaver. They install with one click, then all you need to do is select the number of minutes that they should start playing after not touching your PC or laptop. The screensavers are also full HD with many new releases also having 4K options.

What is the best way to download the files?

When you have paid you will be emailed links to download your files. These will also be available to you anytime on your account page here on the Uscenes website. You should download one file at a time and do so on a laptop or PC.

The Full HD MP4 videos are between 500 MB and 1.3 GB. The new 4K Ultra HD videos are around 1.3-1.6GB. Right click and “Save Link As” or “Save Target As” or “Save As” or “Download Linked File As” for this file, if you can’t right click and it opens a black page for streaming, just right click in the black area and click “save as” or similar.

If you have a stable and fast internet connection then you should have no problems downloading the files through your internet browser. If your internet connection is not stable we suggest using a free download manager:

There are software options like Flash Get (click here) for Windows, or Folx (click here) for Mac (OS X).

Using one of the two download managers above will ensure that you receive the file on the first download attempt, even if your connection drops during download.

There are internet browser options (e.g. Chrome Extensions) which we haven’t tested yet. These will be easier to use but may not allow paused downloads which is the major issue when people have problems.

The screensavers are much smaller at 130 MB to 350 MB and you can simply left click on the download links for these. Once downloaded just click on the file to install.

How can I pay?

You can pay through Paypal, which is the world’s number 1 payment processor. All payments are 100% secure carried out through Paypal. We have no access to your bank or credit card details.

You can also pay with your debit card or credit card with the world’s leading debit and credit card payment processor 2Checkout. They accept Mastercard and all forms of Visa (credit cards, debit cards, Maestro, Electron), plus JCB. Again you are taken off our website for a 100% secure transaction.

What will I need to play the files?

The screensaver files can be installed seamlessly on Mac computers and Windows computers. You simply install the files on the appropriate operating system. The .app files are for Macs and the .exe files are for Windows.

The MP4 files are designed to be played on TVs. The MP4 format can be read by nearly all mainstream media players and computers. Please try our free sample clips to check compatibility with your devices. There are a number of ways that you can do this:

SMART TV with USB: All of the new UHD TVs come with a USB input. If you like you can try putting the video file on your USB drive and play the file through your SMART TVs interface. Please note: as there are so many models and makes of television we cannot guarantee compatibility with every single one. If unsure if your TV can play MP4 video files please check your instruction manual first. We have tested many models from the major brands at the start and midway through 2016 and they all played our 4K UHD MP4 videos easily.

Media Streamer: If you have a media streamer connected to your TV you can simply place the file in the location where your media streamer can access it. You can then locate the files through the media streamer and play it through your TV. Some media streamers store the files locally. In this case it is most likely that you will be adding the file onto the media streamers hard drive itself. Other media streamers may access the file from a network location. In this case you will simply add the file to the appropriate network location that stores all of your media files. You can then play the file as normal like the rest of your media. Sometimes you will need to use a media player such as iTunes if the streamer does not support looping (auto-repeat). If using our 4K videos please be sure to use a device which supports Ultra HD 4K resolution.

Windows computer: You may have a Windows device connected to your TV through a HDMI cable. This could be a laptop, a nettop PC or even a desktop computer. If you are viewing your files in this way, you could use the Windows .exe files as the screensaver for your TV. This will automatically come up on your TV when your computer or device is not in use. Please be aware that Windows screensavers have slightly more compression than the MP4 video file, so we recommend using the MP4 video file whenever displaying on a HD TV. This will ensure you get the best possible quality displayed on your television.

Mac Computer: If you have an Apple Mac computer or laptop connected to your TV you can play the MP4 through iTunes or your Quick Time media player. You can also use the installable screensaver so that your screensaver appears when your Mac is not in use. If you have an Apple TV you can stream the video through it onto your TV screen from iTunes. You will need to set the video as a music video and this will give you the option to then loop/repeat it.

If you would like to download a test file to check if our MP4 files work on your TV; click here.

How to I make videos play continuously?

Screensavers automatically play continuously which is known as “looping”. Videos can be set to loop by clicking the Repeat or Loop button on your media player of choice.

Will my download be free from branding and logos

All downloads are 100% free from any branding or logo images. There is no intro so that you can loop the files as seamlessly as possible.

I get a warning when I try to install the screensaver

Both Windows and Apple will show a warning message when installing a screensaver the first time from us, unless you have already allowed programs to be installed from any developers.

For example on Windows 8 you may see: “Do you want to allow the following program from an unknown publisher to make changes to this computer?”. Just click yes, our files are 100% clean, safe and secure. You can change the settings for your computer by going to your security settings. We suggest you search Google for this as it is may change for different versions of each operating system.

On Apple OS Yosemite the current warning is “{name of screensaver} can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer. Your security preferences allow installation of only apps from the Mac App Store and identified developers.” This can be allowed just once or you can allow all developers to be able to install apps/programs. Click the question mark for instructions.

How do I turn the volume down on screensavers?

When you click on the screensaver in your settings there is a control to turn the volume down. On Macs this is located in System Preferences>Desktop & Screensaver>then select the screensaver>Options (new tab opens)>Options. On Windows you will find this by going to Start>Control Panel>Appearance and Personalization>Change Screen Saver>Settings>Then click on the middle tab.

Can I copy the video file to DVD?

You are allowed to copy each video file to DVD once for personal use. The MP4 format is not suitable to be directly burned onto DVD. Therefore you will need to buy software to help with this. You will need to convert the files to a suitable DVD ready format. There is free software for converting video files but we have not used them, so cannot provide recommendations. This will effect the quality of the footage. We are considering a DVD and Bluray which could be released here and on Amazon.com in the near future.

Can I watch on my phone or tablet?

The Full HD MP4 video files are compatible with Android phones and tablets. To add to iPhones and iPads via iTunes, you will need to convert the videos to a format they accept using this simple method found on the Apple forum. The 4K videos are not currently supported by all media players but VLC does support this resolution.

What are the copyright laws and terms and conditions

All download files are protected by copyright. You can use them on as many of your own personal devices as you like, but you cannot sell them to others or give them away to more than one person. Please visit our Terms and Conditions page for more information.
