Uscenes Frequently Asked Questions

What exactly does Uscenes sell?

All of our products are digital downloads. They each include the option of a 20 minute MP4 video file in 4K Ultra HD and/or 1080p Full HD. We also provide screensavers for Microsoft Windows 10 computers, which may also have both resolutions. All 4K video downloads are mastered in 5.1 surround sound, using the H.265 (HEVC) codec for quicker download speeds.

The video files are intended to be used on large SMART TVs and the screensavers on computers and laptops. Simply copy the videos onto a USB drive and plug into your TV to view them. You can also play the videos on your computers and select the repeat or loop option on your media player for continuous play.

You can download free sample clips to make sure that your devices can play our files by clicking here.

The screensavers are 3 minutes long, they play and continuously loop by themselves until you touch your computer, just like any other screensaver. They install with one click, then all you need to do is select the number of minutes that they should start playing after not touching your PC or laptop. The screensavers are also Full HD with most also having 4K UHD options.

If you cannot play the video on your Windows PC please download VLC Media player which will install the latest 4K video codec: https://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html

How to play the videos on my TV

Simply copy the videos onto a USB drive (or SD card) and plug into your TV to view them. Then select the repeat option for continuous play.

If you have a media streaming device or home media server, you can also stream the videos. If your streaming software doesn’t have a loop/repeat function you can make a playlist. Most do have a repeat option including the new 4K Apple TV and Google Chromecast.

What is the best way to download the files?

When you have paid you will be shown your download links and emailed links to download your files. These will also be available to you anytime on your account page here on the Uscenes website. You should download one file at a time and do so on a laptop or PC.

The Full HD MP4 videos are between 500 MB and 1.2 GB. The  4K Ultra HD videos are around 1.3-1.6GB. Just click on the download links to start downloading and modern internet speeds mean they often take just a couple of minutes.

If you have a stable and fast internet connection then you should have no problems downloading the files through your internet browser. If your internet connection is not stable we suggest using a free download manager:

There are software options like Flash Get (click here) for Windows, or Folx (click here) for Mac (OS X).

Using one of the two download managers above will ensure that you receive the file on the first download attempt, even if your connection drops during download.

There are internet browser options (e.g. Chrome Extensions) which we haven’t tested yet. These will be easier to use but may not allow paused downloads which is the major issue when people occasionally have problems.

The screensavers are much smaller at 130 MB to 350 MB. Once downloaded just click on the file to install.

How can I pay?

You can pay through PayPal, which is the world’s number 1 payment processor. All payments are 100% secure carried out through PayPal. We have no access to your bank or credit card details.

You can also pay with your debit card or credit card with the world’s leading debit and credit card payment processor PayTabs. They accept Mastercard and all forms of Visa (credit cards, debit cards, Maestro, Electron), plus JCB. Again you are taken off our website for a 100% secure transaction. Then redirected back to download your purchases.

What will I need to play the files?

The screensaver files can be installed seamlessly on Windows computers. You simply install the file by double clicking on it. The .exe files are Windows screensavers.

The MP4 files are designed to be played on TVs. The MP4 format can be read by nearly all mainstream media players and computers. Please try our free sample clips to check compatibility with your devices. There are a number of ways that you can do this:

SMART TV with USB: All of the new 4K UHD TVs come with a USB input. If you like you can try putting the video file on your USB drive and play the file through your SMART TVs interface. Please note: as there are so many models and makes of television we cannot guarantee compatibility with every single one. If unsure if your TV can play MP4 video files please check your instruction manual first. We have tested many models from the major brands and they all played our 4K UHD MP4 videos easily. Click here for a recommended USB thumb drive which is compact, reliable, affordable and available in different storage sizes. For TVs you can buy online, but we think it is best to visit a local store to get a real feeling. You could even take our sample clip to the TV store to see how your aquarium TV would look.

Media Streamer: If you have a media streamer connected to your TV you can simply place the file in the location where your media streamer can access it. You can then locate the files through the media streamer and play it through your TV. Some media streamers store the files locally. In this case it is most likely that you will be adding the file onto the media streamers hard drive itself. Other media streamers may access the file from a network location. In this case you will simply add the file to the appropriate network location that stores all of your media files. You can then play the file as normal like the rest of your media. Sometimes you will need to use a media player such as iTunes if the streamer does not support looping (auto-repeat). If using our 4K videos please be sure to use a device which supports Ultra HD 4K resolution.

Windows computer: You may have a Windows device connected to your TV through a HDMI cable. This could be a laptop, all in one PC or a desktop computer. If you are viewing your files in this way, you could use the Windows .exe files as the screensaver for your TV. This will automatically come up on your TV when your computer or device is not in use. Please be aware that Windows screensavers have slightly more compression than the MP4 video file, so we recommend using the MP4 video file whenever displaying on a 4K UHD Tv or HD TV. This will ensure you get the best possible quality displayed on your television.

If you cannot play the video on your Windows PC please download VLC Media player which will install the latest 4K video codec: https://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html

Mac Computer: If you have an Apple Mac computer or laptop connected to your TV you can play the MP4 through iTunes or your Quick Time media player. If you have an Apple TV you can stream the video through it onto your TV screen from iTunes. You will need to set the video as a music video and this will give you the option to then loop/repeat it.

If you would like to download a test file to check if our MP4 video files work on your TV; click here. You can also test all other formats.

How to I make videos play continuously?

Screensavers automatically play continuously which is known as “looping”. Videos can be set to loop by simply clicking the Repeat or Loop button on your media player of choice.

Will my download be free from branding and logos

All downloads are 100% free from any branding or logo images. There is no intro so that you can loop the files as seamlessly as possible.

I get a warning when I try to install the screensaver

Windows may show a warning message when installing a screensaver the first time from us, unless you have already allowed programs to be installed from any developers.

For example on Windows 10 you may see: “Do you want to allow the following program from an unknown publisher to make changes to this computer?”. Just click Yes, our files are 100% clean, safe and secure. You can change the settings for your computer by going to your security settings.

How do I turn the volume down on screensavers?

When you click on the screensaver in your settings there is a control to turn the volume down. On Windows you will find this by going to Start>Control Panel>Appearance and Personalization>Change Screen Saver>Settings>Then click on the middle tab.

You can change or even mute the sound, change the time it takes a screensaver to come on, choose whether to show the video on multiple screens and when installing you also get the option to set a screenshot as your desktop wallpaper.

Can I copy the video file to DVD?

You are allowed to copy each video file to DVD once for personal use. The MP4 format is not suitable to be directly burned onto DVD. Therefore you will need to buy software to help with this. You will need to convert the files to a suitable DVD ready format. There is free software for converting video files but we have not used them, so cannot provide recommendations. This will effect the quality of the footage. We are considering a DVD and Bluray which could be released here and on Amazon.com in the near future.

Can I watch on my phone or tablet?

The Full HD MP4 video files are compatible with Android phones and tablets. The 4K videos are not currently supported by all media players (H.265 HEVC codec), but VLC media player does support this resolution and video type. You can download our videos onto Android phones and tablets, just not iPhones and iPads at this time.

What are the copyright laws and terms and conditions

All download files are protected by copyright. You can use them on as many of your own personal devices as you like, but you cannot sell them to others or give them away to more than one person. Please visit our Terms and Conditions page for more information. If you want to use our videos in a public space please visit our video licencing page for more details, then contact us with a few details about your intended use e.g. a waiting room. We can then provide you a reasonable quote.

How long will my files be available for download?

You will always be able to login and download your past purchases. If your old emailed download links break; just let us know and we will generate new links within hours. We are constantly growing and want you to be a Uscenes customer for life.

Do Screensavers Work on Windows 7?

We have recently had a few reports of people running Windows 7 saying that our screensavers no longer work on their PC. However, we are not 100% sure yet. If you do buy for your PC running Windows 7 and it doesn’t work just let us know and we will refund you. If it does work we would love to know too, as we do not have a Windows 7 machine to check on. Thanks.

Files over 4GB

If your USB drive says there isn’t enough space it may be formatted incorrectly in the FAT32 system, which only allows files up to 4GB in size.

  • Plug the USB into your computer.
  • Go to File Explorer (or Finder on MacBooks).
  • Find the USB and right click on it.
  • Click Format. You need to format the USB under the NTFS file system (or EXFAT) which allows bigger files.
  • Click on the NTFS (or EXFAT) under file system and do a quick format.
  • Now you can copy the large file to the appropriate USB drive.

Note, all files on Uscenes.com are currently under 2GB. This only applies to files on Gumroad where we have uploaded a few longer videos which go up to 16GB.

Do you have longer versions of your videos?

We now have 2 longer aquarium videos available: Click here for a 3 hour video of the popular Dory Loves Corals, which can be downloaded in 4K. Plus it comes with unlimited 4K streaming. Or click here for a 90 minute, higher quality video of the same fish tank. This is the same tank seen on our most popular video Coral Garden. All options on this improved platform can be seen by clicking here.
