Windy Tree Lake Screensaver and Video Location

About 5 minutes away from the location I filmed Lakeside View, was another truly peaceful spot. The focus of this location was an old pine tree leaning precariously over the lake. A strong wind blew across it, almost as if teasing the tree away from the water. I loved this and knew I was going to make this into a lovely lake screensaver.

As I sat down and absorbed the view I realised that the sound would be a challenge here. The wind had picked up and I knew I needed to capture the wind in the best and most realistic way that I could. I pulled out my Neumann TLM-103 and put my huge wind shield over it. I powered up my H4N and placed the headphones in my ears. Oh dear! The wind was so strong that even with the wind shield on I was still getting bumps and hits coming through the audio. I needed to do something so decided to lower the microphone deep into the reeds. This worked perfectly and I could hear the lovely rushing of the wind blowing over the reeds. It sounded just like it did to my ears and I was happy that I was capturing the true ambience of the location at that time. Next, I pulled out my Canon 5D Mark III and knew exactly how I was going to film this. I wanted the tree in sharp focus but also a good amount of focus on the foreground reeds, so f16 was the f-stop of choice. As I was checking the footage through the display I could see that the ripples on the water looked good and all was set.

As I sat there peacefully filming and enjoying the view, I started thinking what a great camping spot this would make. I hadn't seen anyone walk even remotely close to this place but I needed to make sure It would be fine to pitch a tent here with my family. On my way back to the car I decided to stop at a little farm house and ask. To my delight a lovely man said that he owned the land and the lake and that he would be very happy for me to camp there one weekend. I was so excited that I retuned the very next weekend with my wife and 2 daughters and we had a simply fantastic time!

Video and Screensaver Information:

• Full HD MP4 videos are approx. 20 minute 1080p footage suitable for all TV screens. Approx. 500 MB to 1.3 GB download. We use the H.264 codec which allows us to compress the files to a manageable download size, whilst maintaining excellent quality.
• 4K Ultra HD MP4 videos are around 1.2-1.6 GB for UHD televisions. We have encoded these videos in the superior H.265 (HEVC) codec, which means faster download speeds due to more efficient compression.
• The computer screensavers are self looping 3 minute versions in Full HD for Windows and Mac PCs and laptops (approx. 100 MB to 230 MB). The 4K Ultra HD screensavers are also 3 minutes and loop automatically (approx. 200 MB to 350 MB) NOTE: Our Mac screensavers only work with older versions of Apple Mac OS. If you have updated to the latest version of Mojave our screensavers will no longer work.

Some of the MP4 videos are looped to make up the 20 minutes.
